Job Scope
Psychologists provide scientific assessment, prevention and intervention measures to enhance the mental and emotional functioning and well-being of both individuals and organisations. Based on systematic research, psychologists help people to understand the personal, interpersonal, organisational, community and social problems that arise in life and assist them in creating positive changes to deal with these.
Psychologists are found in different settings, such as counselling centres, family service centres, social service agencies, special schools, hospitals, rehabilitation agencies and academic / research institutions.

Minimum Requirements
A recognised degree in psychology from the National University of Singapore (NUS), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), SIM University (UniSIM) or an accredited foreign tertiary institution.

Salary Range
A Degree Holder can look forward to a starting salary ranging from $2,000 to $2,400. Those with a post-graduate qualification start from $2,380.

Professional Development Opportunities
There are various ongoing educational courses and seminars for Psychologists. Postgraduate educational opportunities such as master’s and doctoral programmes are available locally and overseas. A postgraduate degree in Applied Psychology and appropriate practical training are required to become a Registered Psychologist with the Singapore Psychological Society.
Professional Psychologists can opt to specialise in different areas, such as clinical, clinical-health, community, counselling, educational (school), forensic, occupational (industrial-organisational) and sports psychology.
