Job Scope

Social Work Assistants are usually based at family service centres and rehabilitation centres where they assist Social Workers in programme administration, and the day-to-day operations of the social service agency. They liase with the community and other organisations to co-ordinate and implement the agency’s programmes and also assist in the organisation of resource materials and volunteer programmes.

Minimum Requirements  

'O' level and 'A' level graduates can enter the field of Social Work Assistants. Social Work Assistants are encouraged to take up relevant courses to upgrade themselves upon being employed in the voluntary welfare organisations (VWOs). A wide range of training programmes are offered by the Social Service Training Institute (www.ssti.org.sg)

The starting salary for a Social Work Assistant is between $940 to $1,400
