Job Scope

Programme Staff in student care centres play a key role in offering a broad range of activities to meet the widely differing needs and interest of children aged 7 to 14.

Programme Staff perform the role of a facilitator and caregiver as well as nurture a group of school-going children before and after school hours. They also provide homework supervision, plan and conduct social and recreational activities for these children.

Programme Staff have a passion to work with school-going children and their families, as well as a desire to support the children in their total development and growth. A commitment to assist every child to be a life-long learner is essential for the position.

Minimum Requirements

The general requirement is a GCE 'O' level qualification. Entry requirements may, however, vary from one organisation to another.

Programme Staff are encouraged to attend the Certificate course in Caring for Children in Student Care, which is recognised by the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports (MCYS). Such a course is currently available at The Family Resource & Training Centre (FRTC), KLC School of Education and YMCA Education Centre.

Salary Range

Programme Staff have a starting salary range from $900 to $1,500, depending on qualifications.
